Manuel Eirís

Manuel Eirís Santiago de Compostela,
I situate my attention in specific contexts, which metaphorise the impermanence in which I understand that we individuals inhabit, through the analysis of the different layers of which they are composed. In my work in general, one can appreciate an interest in operations of dismantling and opening up spaces, through actions - either regressive or coming from behind, turned upside down - in which what is removed or detached from places, what is dislocated, is as important as what we discover through these actions. Graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Vigo, he continued his training with a solo project at the Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual Ar.Co in Lisbon and a Master in Fine Arts at the AKV St.Joost, 'S-Hertogenbosch and finally at the Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten, HISK in Ghent, among other residencies and workshops. He has had solo exhibitions in galleries such as Bacelos (Madrid and Vigo), The Envelope-L21 (Palma), SCQ (Santiago) and the MARCO museum in Vigo.
He has participated in art fairs such as ARCO Madrid in several editions or Art Brussels and group exhibitions in spaces such as: DIDAC Foundation (Santiago de Compostela), MARCO (Vigo), CGAC (Santiago de Compostela), Lokal 01, (Antwerp), Palácio das Galveias, (Lisbon), CBK, 'S-Hertogenbosch, Het Wilde Weten (Rotterdam) or the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. Among the grants and prizes he has received are the Postgraduate Grant from the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation, the First Prize in the V Auditorio de Galicia Prize for New Artists and the Isaac Díaz Pardo Prize from the Diputación de A Coruña. His work can be found in the following collections: Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation, CGAC, MICA collection, Diputación de Coruña, DKV Collection and private collections.
